10 Off-Screen Horror Movie Deaths That Will Haunt You Forever

2017 folk horror The Ritual is definitely not one to watch if you’re planning on going camping.

Four friends from the UK take a vacation to Sweden and end up wandering through a forest in order to take a shortcut. This proves to be their undoing, as there’s more hiding in these woods than a few squirrels.

As is apparently the case with most of the Scandinavian countryside, the forest is home to a cult. They worship an ancient Norse figure called Moder, a son of Loki (not the Tom Hiddleston version) who requires human sacrifices to keep sated.

At first, the group have no idea how much trouble they’re in, as a lot of the horrors unfold under cover of darkness. One night, they wake up to find that their friend Hutch has gone missing. They find him later, although they probably wish they hadn’t.

Hutch is discovered impaled on a tree, having had his insides ripped out. This is a pretty nasty way to go, but Hutch was the one who suggested they cut through the forest in the first place. So, maybe this was just karma.
