10 Old-School Movie Action Heroes Who Need Rebooting

10. Axel Foley (Beverly Hills Cop)

Why He Needs Rebooting: Despite how entertaining the first two movies were, the third was a total train-wreck, and all efforts to get a TV show off the ground failed when CBS rejected the pilot. Similarly, several aborted attempts to make a fourth film suggest that the requisite elements just aren't ever going to fall into place (despite constant reports that it's still happening). Plus, despite the iconic nature of Eddie Murphy's Axel Foley, this character isn't exactly sacred ground, and Murphy's popularity has taken a huge hit in the last decade with all the flops he's starred in. Who Should Play Him: If he's got the comic chops, which I think he has, Michael B. Jordan would make a great modern-day Axel Foley, as would Donald Glover. They're both likeable personalities who would bring plenty to the table, in what would hopefully be another gritty, R-rated effort rather than some PG-13 rated nonsense (but don't count on Hollywood to get that right).
