He may have only appeared in two movies, but Sir Christopher Lee’s Count Dooku made quite the impression on Star Wars fans. But then, Sir Christopher had a habit of being the brightest shining star in the room on many a movie throughout his illustrious career.

When we were introduced to Dooku in Attack of the Clones, we learned that he used to be a Jedi Master who was responsible for training Qui-Gon Jinn. That was before Dooku was famously seduced by the Dark Side and became a puppet of Palpatine’s in the aftermath of Qui-Gon’s death at the lightsaber of Darth Maul in the Phantom Menace.

Being the pawn of Palpatine, aka Darth Sidious, was essentially Dooku’s downfall, though. After all, Palpatine’s eye was caught by a young fella called Anakin Skywalker who he deemed to be the perfect fit to become his new apprentice.

Manipulated by Palpatine, Anakin’s ascent to becoming Vader saw the young Skywalker kill Dooku in Revenge of the Sith – all while Sidious smiled and cackled in the background. At the time of his death, Dooku was 83 years of age.
