10 Once-Great Movie Franchises That Just Need To Die

First Blood starring Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo follows the story of a US veteran who struggles to adjust to his old life after serving in Vietnam. He deals with the memories that haunt him from his time in the war and eventually uses the skills he learned to do battle with a corrupt police force.

The premise alone sounds like something very fitting of the time in which it was released with many veterans struggling similarly with adjusting back to life and the general public themselves still had the memories of the conflict fresh in their minds. With that in mind, it's certainly not a film which warranted so many sequels.

The newest instalment in the franchise arrived in 2019 with Rambo: Last Blood. The 73 year old Stallone returned for a fourth time to play the character of John Rambo, but at this point his journey that was once very poignant has been shoved aside completely for an emphasis on over-the-top violence and gore. Worse yet, the film received criticism for having racist attitudes towards Mexico. Last Blood hopefully does mean the last.
