10 One-Off Slasher Horror Movie Villains Who Must Return

8. Danielle Breton/Dominique Blanchion - Sisters

One of the earlier films by schlock maestro Brian De Palma, Sisters is a little remembered ‘70s slasher outing, but survives as an intriguing and hugely entertaining cult curio.

The would-be slasher icon here is Margot Kidder’s dual role (sort of) as twins Danielle and Dominique. As is so often the way, one of the titular sisters is sunshine and rainbows, while the other is pure, violent evil.

Kidder’s kinetic performance is a joy, and she milks the character of Dominique for all she’s worth. De Palma knows how to get the absolute most out of his violent scenes. He doesn’t festoon the film with them, but when things get bloody, they get seriously bloody, most notably in a scene involving a scalpel.

There’s a twist that most people will probably see coming, but De Palma and Kidder take great pleasure in making the movie as wild as possible. Were the director not about to move onwards and upwards, there was plenty more fun to be had with Dominique.
