10 Opening Horror Movie Scenes That Should've Been Cut

7. Alice's Death - Friday The 13th Part II

Friday the 13th Part II lets you know it's going to be a relatively unimaginative slasher sequel from its agonisingly prolonged opening scene, where the first film's heroine, Alice Hardy (Adrienne King), is listlessly slaughtered by Jason Voorhees (Steve Daskewisz).

After sitting through a five-minute recap of the original movie, we're then forced to watch Alice spend an exhausting amount of time walking around her apartment, talking on the phone, getting freaked out by fake-out jump-scares, and then finally being stabbed in the head with a pickaxe by Jason.

For starters, Alice remains one of the series' better Final Girls, and deserved so much better than being perfunctorily killed off at the start of the sequel.

Conflicting reports suggest that Adrienne King's role was shortened either by her own request or due to a salary dispute, but if an agreement for a substantial part couldn't be reached, why not just leave her out of the movie altogether?

And beyond that, the scene's so damn boring. Nothing much happens until Alice opens the fridge and finds Pamela Voorhees' (Betsy Palmer) severed head, and even Alice's death itself is incredibly tame by the series' standards.
