10 Oscar Film Categories That Should Totally Exist

2. Best Title Sequence

When executed with passion, skill and relevance, a title sequence can often end up as the most memorable part of any given movie. That's to say, a great title sequence can push the boundaries of the mini-medium, sum up the themes and feel of the movie in question, and can - in itself - end up as a piece of fully-fledged art that warrants viewing outside of the picture it's attached to. Yes, you could certainly argue that since a title sequence comes as part of the whole film package, in winning any award - say, for Best Picture - a film's title sequence gets all the recognition it deserves. But to do fails to recognise all those brilliant title sequences that end up being attached to not so good movies. You know, like the one in Lord of War, or Enter the Void, Watchmen.
