10 Out Of This World Sci-Fi Horror Movie Deaths
3. The Bully Karma - Society
How does a special effects artist manages to outdo the seminal effects work which Rob Bottin pulled off in The Thing?
Easy, just get Re-Animator helmer Brian Yuzna to write a dark, surreal satire wherein a Beverly Hills teen discovers that his adopted family's creepy closeness has a far more Lovecraftian origin than he initially anticipated. Once the film's slow-burn mystery has been revealed and the wealthy villains are beginning to melt into a pile of boneless mush, consuming poorer humans for sustenance in a grotesque flesh-melting orgy, then Screaming Mad George's innovative effects work really has an opportunity to shine.
Another difficult question, however, is how do you escape the attempts by uber-rich elites to tear you apart?
Well that's easy too, as evidenced by the most unforgettable sequence in 1989's horror satire Society.
The film's closing sequence lingers for an unbearably long time on the death-by-consumption of one unfortunate victim, but luckily our hero is more resourceful. Facing off against the school bully who has taunted his working class origins throughout the film, our hero seems to throw the fight and succumb to his fate...
Then simply sticks a hand up said bully (you can guess where) and proceeds to turn his body inside out.
Thus the good guy makes it out alive by tearing the face of his enemy out through his backside, leaving the audience at large's jaw on the floor in the process.
