10 Outrageously Gory Horror Films You Need To See

9. Vampire Girl Vs Frankenstein Girl

Fans of demented splatter movies are urged to check out the films of Yoshihiro Nishimura, who whether as director (Tokyo Gore Police, Mutant Girls Squad) or special effects creator (Samurai Princess, Machine Girl, Meatball Machine) has been a driving force behind a series of plot-light, violence-heavy splatter movies whose excesses have redefined Japanese cinema.

Not content with editing and co-directing Vampire Girl Vs. Frankenstein Girl, Nishimura also designed a host of creatures including a bulletproof sumo from hell, ninja zombies and a flying cadaver with detachable limbs. Imagine Twilight with a mad scientist, a hunchback and a killer nurse, and you’ll have a fair idea of what’s in store.

A non-stop fusillade of no holds barred manic invention, where blood hits the lens on several occasions, Vampire Girl has no ambition other than to outdo its competitors, which with its snappy pacing, brilliant make-up and agreeably demented narrative it does several times over, even throwing in a Japanese schoolgirl taking a blood shower for good measure. What’s not to like?
