10 Overblown Film Directors Who Need To Learn The Meaning Of Restraint

8. Peter Jackson

Peter Jackson had a lot of promise. Brain Dead, Heavenly Creatures, The Frighteners... each of these films were flawed in some way, but proved to be an excellent showcase for one of the most talented directors working today. Then Middle Earth took him. Lord of the Rings was of course was hugely popular and it's understandable that Jackson would want to continue this success after King Kong and The Lovely Bones didn't perform as well as expected, but come on! Really? Call me old-fashioned but one book should normally equal one movie adaptation. One Hobbit film made sense to me. Oh, we're stretching the book to two films now? Ok, that makes sense. It's a really long book.... sorry what? Three films? You don't need three films to adapt 310 pages and they certainly don't need to be 3 hours long each. As a film fan who wishes you only well, please leave Middle Earth alone Jackson. It can't be good for your health!
