9. Hollywood Thrives On All Publicity: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly
All the negative publicity that occurred within the earliest announcements of Affleck's casting actually helped the film gain more global notoriety than can ever be hoped for with a 7-figure marketing and PR campaign. If anything, more and more people are speaking about about the film fans, mainstream movie-goers, their friends, family, and everyone in between. The media picks up and thrives on celebrity and film drama, it's what helps make the bulk of this industry run. Without it, 90 percent of all the blogs, websites; random boards, and social media sites wouldn't have things to talk about. All of this makes the entertainment world go round. What I have seen is a slow trickle of the naysayers fall away; whether it's lack of stamina for the course, or the trolls are dying out via attrition. More people are starting to either have faith, or have taken on the "If you can't beat them, join them!" or the less enthralling, "We'll wait and see" mentality.
