10 Overlooked Horror Slasher Movies That Deserve Your Attention

6. Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers

If you haven't seen the original Sleepaway Camp, then we urge you to do that immediately because it's one of the sleaziest, nastiest, and most shocking slashers ever made, that still manages to pack a considerable punch.

However, despite that film's lasting legacy, its immediate follow-up Unhappy Campers has never really caught on in quite the same way. Much like the aforementioned Prom Night II, this sequel swaps out the filthiness for campy laughs, meta jokes, and buckets of gore, all of which are perfectly punctuated by semi-witty one-liners.

This time around, there's no 'whodunit' because we know who did it and we're on their side, cheering them on as they punish naughty campers for indulging in pre-marital sex or smoking pot. And yet despite the goofier tone, the kills in this film are really quite harsh in places - with Allie's stabbing and subsequent drowning in an overflowing outhouse full of fecal matter and leeches being a particular highlight in a film that's chock full of cruel murders.

It'll never have the same impact as the original, but taken for what it is, it's one of the most fun slasher films you could ever hope to see.
