10 Overlooked Positives Of Divisive Upcoming Movies

Don't dismiss these films just yet.

In the current world of year-long marketing campaigns and publicist journalism it's easy to get overwhelmed by the extent of coverage upcoming movies get, particularly when all the touting of new castings and slight tidbits of information from interviews often misses some of the bigger points. Look at the recent hoo-ha around Suicide Squad. Last week Tom Hardy left the project, then Jake Gyllenhaal was linked for a while before turning down the opportunity, leaving the role of Rick Flag open for the taking. It's an exciting back-and-forth for sure, but so much of the coverage was obsessed over the states of the actors involved that it missed the bigger element of the story - Hardy had left over scripting issues. Flag, the presumed leader of the Squad, has had his role cut down, while there is now a question mark over the quality of David Ayer's script. Isn't that the real meat of the story? And this is far from an isolated case of missing the wider picture - recent coverage of The Fantastic Four seem a lot more concerned by the possibility of a trailer release date than the fact director Josh Trank was allegedly as high as a kite through the shoot - meaning you can get a skewed view of what exactly future movies are shaping up to be. It's not just ignoring bad stuff though. Today let's take a look at ten upcoming movies with rather low expectations that have some strangely overlooked positives.
