10 Overlooked Positives Of Divisive Upcoming Movies
10. Its Written By The Director Of Anchorman - Ant-Man
Why The Film Is Questionable: Ant-Man was Edgar Wright's passion project since 2006, and producer Kevin Feige had stated the only reason to shrinking hero was getting his own feature film outing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was because the British style-maestro was on board. So when the project soldiered on after Wright left last year, with Peyton Reed taking over directing duties, it all started to look like an obligation, rather than a movie Marvel really wanted to make. A trailer released last month only furthered the distaste, with any sense of personality severely lacking. The Overlooked Positive: Leaving along with Wright was Attack The Block's Joe Cornish, who had been on screenwriting duties. But whereas the director of Yes Man is nowhere close to Wright, Cornish's replacement is one with some major pedigree. Star Paul Rudd brought in his Anchorman director Adam McKay, which promises a smartly comic, self-aware script that should do more than just comment on how silly the concept is. Of course, whether people want another comedic superhero movie (who thought that would ever be an issue) after most of Phase 2 is another question.
