10 Overlooked Positives Of Ghostbusters 2

4. The Courtroom Scene Is Awesome

One scene that definitely doesn't get enough recognition is the fantastic courtroom sequence that occurs after the Ghostbusters are arrested for digging up First Avenue.

In the scene, Louis serves as their night-schooled lawyer who provides a hilariously terrible defense to the stern Judge Wexler (Harris Yulin), closing with, "One time, I turned into a dog and they helped me." Louis also admonishes the prosecution's far more competent lawyer, telling her, "Give me a break, we're both lawyers!"

The scene keeps building as Wexler gets more and more exasperated with the apparent nonsense paraded in front of him, causing some of the mood slime to explode and release the ghosts of the Scoleri Brothers, two murderers Wexler previously sentenced to death. Wexler then agrees to waive the case against the Ghostbusters if they re-capture the Scoleris, which they do.

It's easily the best scene in the entire film and stands up against anything in the original. The one-liners are terrific (especially from Moranis), the Judge is awesome, and the ghostly insanity at the end is a total blast.
