10 Overlooked Positives Of Ghostbusters 2
2. The Baby Isn't Annoying (Somehow)
There are countless examples of kids straight-up ruining movies or at least making them less enjoyable, and generally when a kid, especially a baby, is introduced in a sequel, it reeks of franchise-killing desperation.
Dana's baby boy Oscar is far from the kiss of death many likely expected at the time, though, and a rare movie baby who actually adds to the plot rather than distracts from it.
For one, the movie restrains itself to just one poop joke (and it's actually pretty funny) and doesn't focus overtly on cutesy shenanigans. Instead, Oscar serves two important functions: he helps Peter bond with Dana again, and is put in mortal danger by Vigo and Janosz in order to heighten the stakes.
It also helps that he doesn't scream, whine or throw up throughout the movie, and is about as well-tempered a baby as anyone could reasonably expect.
