10 Overlooked Positives Of Superman Returns

7. It Has A Very Impressive Beyond-The-Grave Cameo

In another reference to the Christopher Reeve movies, Bryan Singer chose to use stock footage, old recordings and CGI to bring Marlon Brando back to the role of Superman€™s dad Jor-El, despite the actor€™s death in 2004. This was a lovely little mark of respect, as well as a fun cameo for fans to enjoy. Nowadays, cameos and call-backs and knowing casting decisions are a huge topic of discussion among the fan community for comic book films. Ant-Man even nodded to Garrett Morris, a former Saturday Night Live actor who parodied the diminutive superhero in a sketch one time several years ago. If that€™s what€™s considered a newsworthy cameo these days, having a star as massive as Marlon Brando turn up in your film despite being dead should earn you a huge amount of adoration. But, for many reasons, that isn't the response that Superman Returns received. The careful CGI recreation of Marlon Brando wasn€™t enough to convince people into loving the film, but it was very cool nonetheless.
