10 Painfully Bad One-Liners In Otherwise Great Movies

6. "I Live My Life A Quarter Mile At A Time" - The Fast And The Furious

The Fast & Furious franchise has spawned more films than anyone expected but it all began with 2001's The Fast and the Furious. It was a simpler time when the franchise was actually centered around street racing before the later unexpected turn to heists and espionage.

The Fast and the Furious is a solidly entertaining start to the franchise but this line just shouldn't have made the final cut. Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto recalls how his dad died to Paul Walker's Brian O'Conner and amidst all the action in the film, it's a touching scene and Diesel carries it well.

That is until he tells Brian, "I live my life a quarter mile at a time." The worst part about this line is that it's supposed to be completely sincere. If this was played in an upbeat scene, perhaps it could've gotten away with being a still-dodgy-but-slightly-less-questionable joke but here, it's just an unnecessary pun that detracts from Dom's emotion.

It isnt Diesel's fault. He does what he can with it but this line shouldn't have made it into the final script.
