10 Painfully Bad One-Liners In Otherwise Great Movies
5. "From My Point Of View, The Jedi Are Evil" - Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith
The Star Wars prequels have no shortage of awful lines (See: Anakin's sand speech in Attack of the Clones) but this list is exclusively reserved for bad lines in good films and Revenge of the Sith is without a doubt the redeeming film of the prequel trilogy.
Anakin's long-awaited transition from Jedi to Sith Lord is an interesting one to say the least and one that certainly didn't receive the best reaction from fans. In his final showdown against Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin delivers a truly awful line. Obi-Wan tells him, "Palpatine is evil," to which Anakin replies, "From my point of view, the Jedi are evil." The line does not fit the scene at all.
It's like Anakin's writing an essay. His over formality is so at odds with the intensity of the showdown. A simple, "No, the Jedi are evil," would've been much more fitting. The over formality makes Anakin feel childish - like he's having a tantrum. At this stage in the saga, we should feel threatened by Anakin - imminently soon to be Darth Vader - but this line ensures that the threat just isn't there.
