It’s been pointed out how an actor’s enthusiasm for a part can make it a lot easier to see them as the character. With that being the case, his contagious excitement for the role makes it easy to understand why everyone is so hyped on seeing Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam. 

Shazam! is the forgotten movie of the DC slate, but a large reason that it could surprise everyone is the fearsome antagonist at the heart of it. Black Adam is a ruthless dictator who uses his magical strength to protect his homeland of Kahndaq. Above all else, he wants his people safe, which leads to a conflicting sense of morality and often results in him doing the wrong thing for the right reason.

Johnson hasn’t gotten much of a chance to flex his muscles as a villain but if he can capture the savagery that his Rock persona had, then Black Adam is already set. Beyond that, his role as Hobbs in the Fast and Furious films is exactly how Black Adam should be: intimidating and frighteningly determined but sympathetic in his opposition to the hero. Of course, there’s also the fact that he completely looks the part, which is no small task considering Adam’s hulking size.
