10 Perfect Castings In Upcoming Comic Book Movies

Marvel has had a lot of trouble with their villains. With a few exceptions, the process typically sees an acclaimed actor being cast as a beloved comic book character, only for them to not get enough screen time and have the villain killed off before they could be developed any more in the future. So while it might be foolish to hope that Bruhl breaks the mould, it’s hard to not think he could the one perfect actor to bring Baron Zemo to life.

For starters, there’s the ethnicity to consider. Bruhl is one of the most well-known German actors around and that authenticity is really needed for the character. Beyond that, his work in Inglourious Basterds showed how unnerving he can be, while Rush showed his stoic, determined side.

Zemo is not the Red Skull and his fanaticism is largely kept in check for the sake of his larger goals. He’s been described as a master manipulator and Bruhl gives off the exact same vibe to his persona, something that hopefully carries over to this hyped-up performance.
