10 Perfect Comic Book Castings That Need To Happen (But Probably Won’t)

1. Jensen Ackles – Batman

Jensen Ackles The Winchesters
The CW

There are no ifs, buts or maybes about it, Jensen Ackles needs to be Batman. He wouldn’t be replacing Robert Pattinson so don’t worry about that, but with Batman: The Brave and the Bold announced and situated in a separate continuity, it really is a picture-perfect fit.

With Pattinson providing a more inexperienced and youthful portrayal of the Caped Crusader for Matt Reeves’ separate universe, Ackles can deliver the mandatory experience and know-how required for James Gunn’s Batman and Bruce Wayne.

With how many times he has voiced the character, the least Gunn could do is finally hand him the keys to the Batmobile. In all seriousness, the Supernatural star just ticks every box required to embody both the man and masked vigilante.

As already mentioned, the Texan donning the cape and cowl wouldn't be that unusual considering he’s lent his iconic voice to the character for animated adaptations of Batman: The Long Halloween and Legion of Super-Heroes.

At 45 years old, Ackles provides the perfect age to mentor a young, up-and-coming Damian Wayne within the DCU - even if he may lack the silver-screen familiarity of other options.
