10 Perfect Marvel Comics Stories Phase 4 Must Adapt
8. My Life As A Weapon
Although Jeremy Renner has never really been able to harness is Hurt Locker talents to fully transform into the Clint we know from the comics, he is on his way there, with both Age of Ultron and Civil War having granted the actor the opportunity to perform a more light-hearted, but altogether more passionate take on the character than had previously been the case in Thor and The Avengers.
It's unlikely that he'll be hanging around forever, however. The character's got a family to look after, sadly, and with that comes the prospect that he'll be hanging up his bow and quiver in the near future. Fret not, however, archery fans: Kate Bishop's got you covered.
Matt Fraction and David Aja's seminal run on the character really reiterated the concept of there being two Hawkeyes in the world, each with their own personalities, roles and wardrobes. And Kate - who first donned the Hawkeye mantle prior to Civil War - was brilliant in it. Together with Clint, she took on the Russian mob and helped save the Avenger's apartment complex, complete with the help of a hungry little fella called Pizza-dog.
The series was sold on the premise that it followed what Hawkeye got up to when he wasn't an Avenger, and it's one that would undoubtedly stick on both the big and small screens. Not only would it allow for another passing of the torch in this sense (if one even needs to take place), it would introduce a fan favourite character and adapt a storyline that took the industry by storm in 2012 too.
Netflix or otherwise, 'Hawkeyes' simply has to happen.
