10 Performances In Film Biopics That Actually Get It Right
1. Tom Hardy - Legend
London Gangsters Ronnie and Reggie Kray are as different as they come, despite being born a mere ten minutes apart, meaning Tom Hardy's inspired take on the two was twice as impressive in 2015's Legend.
With Reggie as the brains and Ronnie the brawn, The Krays, in the eyes of the law, were humble business owners, running a nightclub in the historic city's West End. The truth was far more shady, as the twins quickly became feared throughout London Town, asserting their dominance over the crime world before both were incarcerated for crimes including --but not limited to-- murder.
Hardy's threatening stares and cheekily charming chatter makes Reggie feel unpredictable at best, and psychopathic at worst. Ronnie is far less cryptic, as his simple mind and heavy fists make up most of his personality, but the stark difference in characters and obvious effort it took to portray the pair shows just how dedicated the London-born actor is to the film as well as its authenticity.
The Krays have been the subject of films in decades past, but Legend is the one that reigns supreme, which is due in large part to Tom Hardy's exceptional performances.
