10 Performances In Film Biopics That Got It Horribly Wrong

Despite flying under the radar with a low budget and little in the way of promotional fanfare, many automobile fanatics were still intrigued by the notion of a biopic concerning the Godfather of one of the most iconic sports car brands of all time, Ferruccio Lamborghini.

Regrettably, said fanatics and anyone else unfortunate enough to witness Frank Grillo's turn as the eponymous character likely found themselves wishing they had steered clear. As opposed to actually exploring Ferruccio's enthralling life story and complex persona with any significant depth, this bare bones offering lurches from one sequence to the next with the smoothness of a blindfolded learner driver clunking through gears.

The cinematic biography of this enigmatic figure appeared to possess all the requisite components for a gripping ride, but whenever Grillo's efforts appear to finally be moving in a positive direction, he stalls like somebody just broke the key off in the ignition. It's a genuinely frustrating piece of acting, a performance that should by its very nature be riveting, but instead comes across with all the refinement of an in-work training video.

The realization that the legendary cars themselves actually feature fairly minimally throughout the movie is the icing on a hilariously bad cake. Grillo is an immensely talented actor, with his work on MMA drama Kingdom standing as one of the most underrated television performances of the last decade, but this is one for the scrap pile.
