7. Villa del Balbianello, Lake Como, Italy Varykino, Naboo Lakeside Retreat
Though Attack of the Clones is one of the films most despised out of the Star Wars saga, there is no doubt that the location where Anakin spent wooing Padmé into a forbidden marriage (some ridiculous conversation about sand is involved here) is one of the most beautiful locations seen throughout all six movies. Famous for its gardens, Villa del Balbianello was built in 1787 for the Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini. It fell into disarray by the early twentieth century, but was revived when bought by an American businessman. Once again, it ended up in Italian hands in 1974 when it was bought by the first Italian to climb Mount Everest, Guido Monzino, and has been owned by an Italian ever since. This paradise on earth is also open to the public every day, except Mondays, Wednesdays, and holidays. And Italians have a lot of holidays and festivals, so I would double check before deciding to visit. You can reach the Villa by ferry or by walking from the nearby town of Lenno. I've read that walking is quite a hike (yes, pun intended because I love puns) but it's the only way to get to the Villa on Tuesday's, Saturday's, and Sunday's. Italians really like to make things difficult. As an added bonus, if you are a James Bond fan, scenes from Casino Royale were also filmed at Villa del Balbianello.
Cost: 3-8 for a one way ferry ticket, 5 for only the gardens, 11 for the Villa and gardens.
