10 Planned Movie Sequels That Also Need To Be Terminated
6. Gnomeo & Juliet: Sherlock Gnomes
Scheduled Release Date: 12 January, 2018 The original Gnomeo & Juliet was a pretty lackluster animated flick that came and went with little fanfare - despite pulling in $194 million on a budget of just $36. When movie industry types see statistics like that, however, they're heavily inclined to produce sequels, even if the movie in question has people saying: "Huh? Never heard of it." The follow-up flick, scheduled for release in 2018, has what is arguably the worst title in motion picture history. Mixing Shakespeare with, like, Sherlock Holmes? How does that even work? Not that an animated movie set in a garden made much sense anyway, but still... there's a line, this franchise, and you've crossed it. Johnny Depp will voice Sherlock Gnomes in the sequel, whilst James McAvoy and Emily Blunt will reprise their roles from the first film as the titular couple. The first film came out in 2011, by the way, so the world has been without Gnomeo and Juliet for 5 years and everything has been fine. Wipe this one off the schedule, Paramount. No need, is there?
