10 Planned Movie Sequels That Also Need To Be Terminated

4. Cars 3

Scheduled Release Date: June 16, 2017 Cars is, by far, Pixar's least imaginative franchise to date. Whereas with most Pixar properties, you end up gushing over the sheer genius of the conceit, Cars is just... some cars. In, like, the human world. But they're cars. It's never made any sense, is the thing, which is why the original movie was deemed to be the studio's weakest effort to date at the time of its release, whilst Cars 2 was a travesty. Despite the lackluster nature of this franchise, however, Cars 3 is happening. Why, you ask? Why would Pixar bother with another sequel? Where is there to go? The answer, dear reader, is "merchandising." When a Cars movie comes out, Pixar sell a lot of vehicle-based toys. Because kids love anything that they can push or crash. A Cars movie is a safe financial bet, basically, and so Cars 3 has entered production and is set to arrive in cinemas in 2017. No cast members have been confirmed (though surely Owen Wilson will be back), whilst Pixar veteran John Lasseter is set to direct. Here's hoping that there's a collision at some this year and this sequel is soon written-off.
