10 Planned Movie Sequels That Also Need To Be Terminated

3. Blade Runner 2

Scheduled Release Date: N/A Can we not? Can't we leave just one classic movie as a true standalone? Blade Runner never asked to be a sequel, of course; as a single, self-contained entity - a genuinely remarkable cinematic vessel - it should just be left alone to exist as it has done for more than 30 years. Because, despite promises of Ridley Scott and Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling's involvement, there's no escaping the feeling that Blade Runner 2 has nothing to say. There's nothing about the futuristic dystopia in the original movie that needs to be expanded on; it's all right there. And besides, hasn't Hollywood proven, time and time again, that matching up to truly iconic films like Blade Runner is an impossibility? Denis Villeneuve, who helmed Prisoners and Sicario, is a great talent and a good choice for director, but there is something sacred about Blade Runner that makes this potential return an uncomfortable one. It has fallen off the radar a number of times before, and so there is still some hope that production will stall and the movie will enter development hell.
