5. Robin Hood

The Amazing Spider-Man Andrew Garfield
Warner Bros.

Robin Hood is a legendary character of English folklore which dates back to the Middle Ages. He is known for robbing from the rich to give to the poor all the while using his trusty bow and arrow. The Prince of Thieves has appeared in many books and movies inspiring many other similar characters such as DC Comics' Green Arrow and Marvel Comics' Hawkeye.

There have been many accomplished actors who have taken up the mantle of Robin Hood over the years. Errol Flynn, Sean Connery, Russell Crowe, and many others have donned the green tights for the big screen.

Kevin Costner also tried his hand at being Robin Hood in ‘Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves’ (1991). The movie took a much darker take on the classic story and Costner won the Worst Actor Golden Raspberry Award for his performance. However, his rescue scene involving a flaming arrow is truly iconic.
