10 Possession Movies You Need To Watch If You Liked The Exorcist

The Prodigy is a 2019 film directed by Nicholas McCarthy and written by Jeff Buhler. As with The Exorcist and several of its kind after it, this feature focuses on the possession of a young child – in this case, a boy called Miles. There seems to be an extra level to the creepy-factor when children are involved in such dark matters, and this example is no disappointment.

Eight-year-old Miles stars exhibiting strange and unusual behaviour, and even engages in activities in which he has no recollection. His parents, frightened by the increasingly dramatic change in their son, seek help, however it isn't long before they connect the dots and start to believe their son may be under the influence of a demonic energy. Whilst not particularly original in story or style, the film has enough creepy scenes and atmosphere to keep you glued to the end.

The cast, which includes Taylor Schilling, Jackson Robert Scott and Peter Mooney, do a great job of bringing the ever-increasing horror to life. The film met mixed reactions upon release but it's a worthy contender in this possession hit-list.
