Throughout Bryan Singer€™s sequel to the immensely successful X-Men film there are foreshadowing clues that Jean Grey will soon become Phoenix; her fiery eyes; her bad feeling; her sudden feats of great strength. Following her death in the climactic sequence at Alkali Lake it seemed as though she had died, but the post credit scene showed a Phoenix image emerge at the place of her death. This hint that she was going to return altered the dynamic of the X-Men universe; suddenly Scott Summers descended from being a cocky and confident leader to being a moody mourner. This shift paved the way for Storm€™s leadership role and created the means for Wolverine to take a bigger role in the X-Men during The Last Stand. Furthermore, Jean Grey€™s revival in X-Men 3 was poorly received to the point that the latest X-Men film has essentially wiped these events out of existence; this universe shifting force occurred because fans and critics alike seemed united in their disdain for the film.
