10 Post-Credits Comic Book Film Scenes That Changed Everything

4. The Incredible Hulk

The Incredible Hulk was a rather lacklustre film; it was not the worst incarnation of the Hulk by any means, but it was equally as forgettable as other efforts. Then, after the credits, we were struck by an amazing revelation; Tony Stark walks in to a bar and offers help with hunting the Hulk. This may seem like a small point now, but at the time it was groundbreaking as it showed that Iron Man and the Hulk had coexisted in the same universe; the Hulk film had implied a World War Two supersoldier was important, and although we clearly know this was Captain America now, at the time audiences were unsure of whether these characters shared their universes. We take it for granted now that the MCU films reference the other films; Stark Industries seems to provide technology for SHIELD and the military, the events of the Avengers are commonly referenced in Phase II films, but at the end of the Hulk nobody expected to see Tony Stark wander into a bar. However, this impact is retrospectively weakened due to Edward Norton€™s departure from the role, leaving The Incredible Hulk's continuity to the MCU unclear. The post-credit scene established the MCU in a way that was unheard of at the time; Tony Stark€™s father had been included in Captain America: The First Avenger, but this was the first example of the modern heroes existing in the same universe, enabling the stunning Avengers film to take place. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYmvPPFk54E
