7. The Major Phase 4 Antagonists Are The Sinister Six

We'll be the first to admit this one's a bit of a leap, especially considering the possibility that Phase 4's main narrative throughline may revolve around beloved comic arcs such as Secret Invasion or the Thunderbolts taking on the Avengers.

However, considering the long-term fan thirst for a Sinister Six movie - which nearly got going under Sony but eventually cratered alongside their Amazing Spider-Man franchise - it feels like the right time to give the supervillain stable their time to shine.

After all, Spider-Man: Homecoming hinted at the beginnings of the group, with Vulture (Michael Keaton) meeting Scorpion (Michael Mando) and Shocker (Bokeem Woodbine).

Homecoming 2, meanwhile, could easily introduce another two or three more members from the likes of Mysterio (rumoured to be played by Jake Gyllenhaal) to Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman, Kraven the Hunter, Green Goblin and so on. Probably not Venom, though, unless the Tom Hardy-starring movie somehow ends up being way better than it looks.

If we have at least five of the villains introduced by the end of Homecoming 2, the table would basically be set for Avengers 5 to have the surviving superheroes (including both Parker and Morales versions of Spidey!) battling the Sinister Six.

Attempting to top Thanos' world-ending shenanigans is clearly a fool's errand, so it's probably best to just go in an entirely new direction. The idea of having the Avengers facing off against a team who was assembled the same way they were - Vulture essentially acting as the Nick Fury of the Six - could be a neat way to make Avengers 5 an event movie like no other.

It'll be risky to pull it off without seeming rushed and giving the Six enough character development, but perhaps building the team over the next two Spidey movies (with Homecoming 3 probably releasing in 2021) would create enough breathing room for A5 in 2022.
