10 Potential Directors For Spider-Man 4

4. Matthew Vaughn

The man is more than comfortable with the superhero genre and Stardust is a greatly under-appreciated adventure. Considering the success of both X-Men First Class and Kick Ass, he may be interested in taking on another property with a whole different world built around him. Part of the challenge of keeping these franchises afloat for so long is keeping them alive and new each time a new sequel is released. It's not impossible to think that the studios will want to treat their superhero properties the same way MGM treats James Bond; immortal. Bond has, for the most part, sought to achieve at least some form of vague continuity across the 23 films belonging to his character. The only things that really change are the actors and the creative forces behind them. In order to keep characters like Spider-Man and his fellow superhero brethren from being trilogies and eventual reboots ten years down the line, people should be open to the idea of crafting them they way you would a Bond film. One actor may have a multiple film run, but often the directors and writers will change to help keep it alive. Matthew Vaughn's already sort of done this with First Class, and could bring a new and exciting vision to Spider-Man much the same way Sam Mendes has with the new Bond.
