Skin Trade is Dolph Lundgrens pet project. He has been working on it for almost a decade. He has co-written the script and is also producing and of course starring in the movie. Lundgren plays a New York cop whose family is murdered by a Serbian crime lord. He follows the bad guys to Bangkok where he teams up with a Thai detective played by Tony Jaa of Ong Bak fame to get revenge on the crime family and expose their human trafficking ring. At first Lundgren wanted to direct the film himself, but now he has handed over the director seat to Thai filmmaker Ekachai Uekrongtham, who is best known for the art-house film Beautiful Boxer about a male Muay Thai fighter undergoing a sex-change operation. Certainly a highly interesting choice for a Dolph Lundgren movie, which also has a surprisingly strong cast. In addition to Dolph himself and Tony Jaa, (they can also be seen together in 2014s A Man Will Rise) the movie also stars Michael Jai White, Celina Jade and Ron Pearlman with more announcements still to come.
