10 Potentially Awesome Movies That Need To Escape From Development Hell

3. The Brazilian Job

102154_glg Even though the remake of The Italian Job had literally nothing in common with the Michael Caine starring original, it was good escapist fun and warranted a sequel. As you can guess from the title, the plot was going to be Mark Wahlberg, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, Mos Def and Seth Green get the gang back together for a big heist in Rio. Various scripts have been in place at one time or another, but the film just can't seem to move in the right direction for any significant period of time. First off, there needs to be a name change as The Brazilian Job is just inviting sniggers and bad jokes. The main obstacle in getting The Brazilian Job made is the actors' availability. Mark Wahlberg appears to be on a quest to become the busiest man in Hollywood, Jason Statham has several movies out a year and Charlize Theron is currently struggling to balance all her projects as it is. It's been a decade since the remake came out and sadly, the sequel appears to be rotting away in development hell, with only a slim chance of escaping.
