10 Predictions For 2019's Most Iconic Movie Deaths

2. Mufasa (James Earl Jones) - The Lion King

The fact that everybody already knows Mufasa (James Earl Jones) will die in The Lion King does absolutely nothing to diminish the fact that audiences the world over are going to be left bawling uncontrollably when it happens again in Disney's live-action remake.

Assuming it faithfully recreates the animated classic, Mufasa will perish after saving Simba (Donald Glover) from a trap set by his brother Scar (Chiwetel Ejiofor).

And if it recaptures even just a sliver of the original's emotion - especially the moment where Simba tries to wake his dead father - it's sure to be nothing short of devastating.

Given that director Jon Favreau did a wonderful job milking every drop of emotion from The Jungle Book, there's no doubt he'll knock it out of the park here and traumatise a whole new generation of children in the process.
