6. Captain America (Chris Evans) - Avengers: Endgame

Though Avengers: Endgame will almost certainly conclude with the majority of the "dusted" Avengers being brought back to life, it's also guaranteed that at least one or two frontline heroes are going to make the ultimate sacrifice.

While it's certainly possible that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is the one to do it, given his teased settling down with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) in Infinity War, it's far more likely that the dubious honour will go to Captain America (Chris Evans).

After all, Chris Evans has aspirations to direct and it'd totally suit the steely, honourable nature of his character to lay down his life - even trade his life, perhaps - for the greater good.

And if it happens, Marvel fans the world over are going to be sobbing themselves to sleep.

Given that the MCU has struggled to give death a clear finality to date, offing a flagship Avenger for good is an absolute must in Endgame, and Cap's the prime candidate for a devastating, heroic dirt nap.
