10 Predictions For Marvel Cinematic Universe's Future
5. Captain Marvel Will Join The Guardians Of The Galaxy
The Carol Danvers version of Captain Marvel (the character was originally a man, but the title has been used by women before) will be the first female Marvel superhero to get her own movie. There will probably be a big push to market her as a role model for girls and she’ll be showing up on a lot of merchandise. A good way to increase that popularity is by associating with another franchise like the Guardians.
Captain Marvel’s powers come from the Kree, the race of blue-skinned aliens that Ronan belonged to, so the association is already there. She’s a cosmic superhero and spends a lot of time in deep space. She’s also a capable pilot, which is always useful in the Guardians’ neck of the woods. Apparently, the Kree Empire are being dealt with in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but nobody knows exactly how because nobody watches that show.
In the comics, Carol is also involved with S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient World Observation and Response Department) which will probably make it to the MCU in response to yet another alien invasion coming to Earth.
They operate out of the Peak space station, which is perfect for a character that needs to stay somewhat grounded (no pun intended) while also feeling on the edge of a larger universe. And it’s a perfect way for Carol to get her powers.
