10 Predictions For Marvel Cinematic Universe's Future
3. Black Widow Will Go Solo
At the end of Civil War, Black Widow manages to evade capture for betraying the pro-registration side. Considering she’s an international spy with experience disappearing, it’s a safe bet that she’ll disappear. But her association with the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes has changed her and she can’t stand to sit on the sidelines while evildoers go free.
In the comics, Natasha Romanoff has had several solo titles over the years, so there’s plenty of material to adapt. Even though Captain Marvel will be the first female-led movie, Black Widow is still the first woman of the MCU and she deserves to have her own film. It can be entirely separate from the other movies and a welcome breather after all of the continuity-heavy movies that are on the horizon.
Sure, she could join Cap’s Secret Avengers, but when she’s alongside those god-like beings, her skill set always seems kind of lame. In her own movie, she can really shine and not have to play second fiddle to Captain America. Steve could invite her, but she’ll just enigmatically say she’s got her own problem to deal with and fade into the shadows.
With a dark tone (think Rogue One not Dark Knight) and the right story, they could have a real masterpiece on their hands.
