10 Predictions For Sony's 2021 Mystery Spider-Man Spin-Off Movie
1. Spider-Woman
While the films in the Spidey Universe that Sony is so clearly building have been centred on characters in Spider-Man's orbit - meaning that they don't have to directly reference the MCU's wall-crawler - this one would be more directly tied to him... like, a lot. And there's a pretty good chance that this might be the one that ends up hitting our screens in October 2021.
As reported by MCU Cosmic, rumour has it had Sony is developing a Spider-Woman spin-off. Introduced in the comics back in 1977, Jessica Drew is actually a character currently owned by both Sony and Marvel. The irony, however, lies in the fact that Marvel are only allowed to use the Jessica Drew character (unrelated to Spidey) while Sony are allowed to depict her in all her Spider-Woman glory.
Now that the two studios have worked out a deal that allows Spider-Man to appear in one more solo film and another MCU film, perhaps one more joint production is on the horizon in the form of Spider-Woman.
Following the successes of Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel, it's clear that female-led superhero films are long overdue, so don't be surprised if Sony follows suit with Spider-Woman.
