Depending how on board you are with Sony's Marvel plans, then the predictions you've read in this feature will either sound amazing...or downright abysmal. However, perhaps the most negative possibility moving forward is that the deal between Sony Pictures and Disney/Marvel Studios will indeed reach a premature end.

Right now, Disney is stumping up more money for an increased box office return, and an agreement is in place for one more MCU-set Spider-Man adventure and a cameo appearance from the hero in a separate Marvel Studios production. Beyond that? Well, it's a mystery right now.

Based on what happened last year, Sony Pictures were clearly happy to move forward with Spider-Man 3 minus Kevin Feige's involvement, and Far From Home grossing over $1 billion has clearly made them confident that anything they do with the character will be a hit. Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 were great, but everything that followed sucked, and only Into the Spider-Verse truly redeemed Sony.

That doesn't mean they're ready to take control of Spidey's live-action adventures, though, and should they take full control of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's iconic creation, it could be disastrous.
