4. There Is A Lot Of Exposition

Movies are meant to show us what is happening, not tell us. The Avengers completely ignores this. Rather than having Loki€™s plan come to fruition, and then have the Avengers react to Loki€™s bizarre attack, Tony Stark gave us an expositional speech as to what Loki was intending to do, and how the mismatched superhero team would have to combat it. Considering the amount of groundwork that went into this phenomenal film, with a number of individual films each introducing crucial characters and details, Marvel€™s blockbuster failed to really capitalise on the strong foundation that they had built. To add to this egregious sin, the exposition was not even that useful; we didn€™t fully understand the tesseract and we didn€™t really need to know Loki€™s plan before he put it into effect. Unlike other films with a lot of exposition (like Inception) the film was not enhanced by it, instead feeling like wasted time. This exposition distracts from the incredible story, amazing effects, and spectacular acting of the film. While it may not seem like the biggest of blights, it is one of the niggling issues that become increasingly irritating the more times you watch Marvel€™s phenomenal movie.
