10 Problems Nobody Wants To Admit About Deadpool

6. The Writers Are Totally Hit & Miss

Like any movie, what's really going to make or break Deadpool is the script, which comes from Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, whose writing credits to date are...a mixed bag to say the least. Reese contributed story material to Monsters Inc and wrote Zombieland, but he also wrote the risible straight-to-video sequel Cruel Intentions 3, contributed story material to STV Disney film Tarzan II, and penned the mediocre G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Wernick shares several of those writing credits while having no notable additional ones of his own. It's worth noting that the pair's only theatrically-released R-rated movie to date, Zombieland, was a critical and commercial success, so perhaps it proves where their forte lies. After all, what writer hasn't penned some crappy gigs to get their career going? Even so, their filmographies are nothing if not wildly inconsistent.
