10 Problems Nobody Wants To Admit About The Original Star Wars Trilogy

9. Most Of The Dialogue Is Horrible

Fans of Star Wars who happen to hate the prequels but love the originals tend to take a sort of twisted pleasure in quoting the awful dialogue inherent to Episodes I through III, as a short-hand way of saying "the prequels suck - a lot." The classic "terrible" quotes, which - yes - are very terrible, include: "I don't like sand," "You're breaking my heart," and the ill-judged "I wish that I could just... wish away my feelings!" There's also the lackluster "From my point of view, the Jedi are evil," courtesy of one Anakin Skywalker.

It's true: those lines are abominable. But the dialogue inherent to the original Star Wars trilogy ain't exactly pretty. In fact, you could easily argue that it's just as bad and has been left alone on account of the fact that the movie is "old" now, and folk tend to forgive stodgy dialogue and blunt exposition in movies that they've grown up with or share affection for.

Honestly, there are tons of cheesy lines dumped throughout the original trilogy. Can you really forgive "I was going into Tosche Station to pick up some power convertors?"
