10 Problems With Batman V Superman Nobody Wants To Admit

10. Seeing Superheroes Fight Is Played Out

For the most part comic books have moved away from the juvenile trope of making their superheroes fight all the time. In the early days it was the default position when creators wanted to get two characters (or sets of characters) together, to have them not team up but come to blows over some ridiculous misunderstanding. As time went by the contrivances got even more...well, contrived, and you know in the end everyone will shake hands and be friends. It's the sort of story that's literally decades old, everybody's familiar with it, and it's kind of boring. Which means that the set up of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is inherently boring. The film essentially looks like a kid tipping out his action figures and making them fight be smashing them into each other. Which is fun when you're a kid, and is superficially exciting as a big budget production for all of five minutes (it's why there are so many YouTube videos that follow that set up), but otherwise? Just not a concept that seems like it could carry a whole feature.
