10 Promising Movies Cancelled For Bizarre Reasons
8. Disney's Worst Film Of All-Time Stopped A Yellow Submarine Remake Being Made
In 2009, capitalising on the recent developments made in motion capture CGI, Disney, Apple Corps and Imagemovers Digital announced plans for a remake of The Beatles' iconic 1968 film Yellow Submarine.
The project, set to be directed by Robert Zemeckis, was slated to star Peter Serafinowicz and David Tennant and was due to be released in time for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.
However, after the critical and commercial failure of the Zemeckis-helmed remake of Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol in 2009, Disney's faith in the project began to wane.
The film's fate was finally sealed by the total failure of 2011's Mars Needs Moms which earned the dubious honour of being the worst financial loss for a Disney-branded film.
This prompted Disney to immediately disband ImageMovers Digital and cancel all of their upcoming projects - including Yellow Submarine.
Although Zemeckis was granted permission to find another studio to complete the project, during the press tour for 2012's Flight, he revealed that he had lost interest in remaking the film.
