This American comic book series written by Bill Willingham and published by DC Comics' Vertigo is an astonishingly creative retelling of classic folkloric characters in a modern setting. It features roles that are familiar such as The Big Bad Wolf, Snow White, Baba Yaga and countless more, and makes them feel relevant and imaginative in a wholly new and compelling light.

It dictates a New York City community called Fabletown which is home to a host of mythical creatures after being ejected from their homeland by a deadly enemy known as the Adversary. From there we follow some of the town's representatives as they attempt to keep the peace.

The series has seen adaptation in the form of Telltale's The Wolf Among Us prequel game series which was well-received critically but not a huge financial success. A screen version of the title has been in development a few times, once with NBC and another time with ABC and even a film concept with Warner Bros. but none of these projects ever made it to production.

The interest that has always surrounded this series is warranted as the colourful retellings of these classic fables are utterly superb and would look brilliant on screen. Thus Netflix could do an outstanding job of finally bringing this phenomenal series to life.
