10 Questionable Criticisms Of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

5. It Tries Too Hard To Compensate For Man Of Steel

The Criticism: In the wake of the lukewarm reception to Man Of Steel, Zack Snyder attempted to address some of the more recurring complaints regarding the film. Though he's denied it, it’s so obvious he went out of his way to keep pointing out how all of the fights were taking place in deserted areas. It became almost comical having the heroes pointedly herd battles away from the cities to avoid another Battle Of Metropolis scenario.

In addition to that, the film tried way too hard to show Superman saving people. Man Of Steel was criticised for his negligent destruction, as well as the fact that we never individually saw him helping that many people in danger. Once again, Snyder overcompensated and gave us a painful montage.

Why It’s Questionable: As much as it was done in a ham-fisted manner, Superman saving people is good for his character. He would rescue people from floods and divert fights from crowds. The film was true to his character in that regard - it’s only the movie making such a big deal of pointing it out that was a problem.

All the same, it’s good that Snyder addressed some of these complaints, and even if he made some new mistakes this time, he’s shown that he has the capability to learn from them.
